From trekking over glaciers in Iceland, to leading expeditions across the Lake District, and Brecon Beacons, students are encouraged to push themselves to the limit. We are proud to support students as they take part in nationally recognised competitions and awards including Ten Tors and Duke of Edinburgh. We provide music lessons, competitive sports after school and celebrate achievements through our Sports other Award events. We also encourage our students to participate in charity and community events.

The Writhlington Orchid Project is award winning. As well as participating in national and international shows, students are able to develop new growing techniques and work with schools in throughout the world.

We are proud to have one of the most active Combined Cadet Forces in the South West. As well as weekly training sessions, students have the opportunity to attend weekend camps and a range of activities including mountaineering, skiing and paddle sports.

Our team of expert musical instrument and vocal tutors provide a wonderful opportunity to learn a wide variety of instruments. Many students go on to perform in Writhlington's numerous concerts and productions.
